The working principle of water softener

Basically an ion exchange, water softener is designed to get rid of the minerals which make the water hard. This process of water softening is accomplished by using resin beads that are coated in sodium. In actual there are two ions which cause hardness in water and these are magnesium and calcium. When this hard water is allowed to flow through the softener, the sodium of resins pulls these ions and eliminates them from water, making the water soft.
